My Top 5 Protein Bars
There are so many different protein bars out on the market and unfortunately, most of them are nothing more than candy bars sugar-coated with healthy lingo on the packaging.
So if you’re like most people when it comes to finding the best protein bar, you may be asking yourself, “How do I choose? Which one is GOOD for me?”
(That’s exactly what I was thinking when I started looking into them.)
I really prefer to get most of my protein from lean meats, but sometimes you need something quick that you can take on the go. Not everyone has the time to cook a turkey burger for lunch or an egg white omelet in the morning (if you eat breakfast).
Below are my top 5 protein bars – my personal favorites after trying quite a few – and there’s something for everyone there…
Buy a few of these to keep in the house (or even in your purse). They’re definitely great options for snacks and will keep you full and satisfied until your next meal… As long as you count them into your daily intake 🙂
My Top 5 Favorite Protein Bars
1.) Quest – Smores Bar
This is the newest protein bar that Quest has come out with and it really lives up to its name! The nutrition stats are great and the flavor is amazing…
There are chunks of chocolate in this bar with little bits of marshmallow and even a hint of graham cracker.
Can’t get any better than that!
2.) Quest – Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Okay, this was one of the first protein bars I ever had and I absolutely loved it! Quest Nutrition has really upped their game with their protein bars, protein powder, pastas and even chips (I know – protein chips? Crazy!). These chocolate chip cookie dough bars are just great – they are lower in calories and really help curb that sweet tooth.
Tip: Place them in the microwave for 10 seconds or so and its like actual cookie dough… Yum!
3.) Quest – Double Chocolate Chunk
To all those chocolate lovers out there – this is the bar for you! As you can tell, there are quite a few Quest bars on this list. This is because they have so many great flavors (this being one of my favs) and the nutrition on them is just perfect. Not too many calories, just enough for a snack or when you have a sweet tooth without it becoming a meal replacement.
All I can say with this bar is you might need a glass of milk after you have it because it is so chocolaty and decadent… It will not disappoint!
4.) NoGii – Chocolate Peanut Butter Caramel Crisp (GF)
This Chocolate Peanut Butter Caramel Crisp NoGii bar is so delicious! It’s also GLUTEN-FREE (GF) which is a great option. It is a little higher in calories than some of the other ones on this list, so you really need to count it into your daily calories… I actually ran across these at Walgreens when we were in the process of moving to Florida and since I was so hungry and didn’t want to get any fast food, I decided to give them a try.
So glad I did! They taste so good it actually feels like you are having a candy bar (a candy bar with 30 grams of protein!).
5.) Think Thin – Creamy Peanut Butter (GF)
The Think Thin brand was a new one to me that I came across when I was out shopping with my mom and needed a quick snack. I’m so glad that I tried it… It really hit the spot and the flavor was great. They also have a chocolate mint, brownie and many more… It’s so great to see gluten-free options because that’s becoming increasingly more common.
This bar is a little higher in calories, but as you can see it is packed with protein, low in sugar and the fat isn’t too bad either. All in all a great choice!
The great thing about protein bars is if they are added correctly into a healthy lifestyle they can really benefit you. But if they are used wrong it can really go in the opposite direction… As long as you educate yourself and read the labels, you are well on your way to reaching your goals.
If you try any of these bars I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! And feel free to share your favorite protein bars here…
I’m always looking to try something new 🙂
