Crispy Chicken Sliders with Hot Honey Sauce

There are just some comfort foods that really hit the spot… for me that is any kind of crispy chicken sandwich!! Now, I try not to have the deep fried deliciousness often, but sometimes you just gotta do it 🙂

When you’re trying to eat healthier, these baked crispy chicken sliders with hot honey sauce are the perfect thing to make you feel like you’re “cheating” (only you’re not).

When people try to lose weight or just want to be healthier all around, the biggest problem I see is that most people completely cut the things they love out of their diet.  This is our immediate instinct because we know the higher fat foods, fried foods, and pretty much any thing that taste amazing has to be bad, right?

Part of this is true, but it really comes down to balance and learning how to prepare foods that taste really great but are healthier for us.

These crispy chicken sliders with hot honey sauce are baked instead of deep friend which makes all the difference (but not when it comes to taste). Topped with a sweet and spicy sauce, it’s the perfect combo of sweet savory and a little crunch! What more could you ask for?

Crispy Chicken Sliders with Hot Honey Sauce Ingredients:

For the Chicken Sliders:

20 oz. boneless skinless chicken

1 tbsp plus 1 tsp maple syrup
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp cayenne
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Cooking Spray
Salt & Pepper

For the Hot Honey Sauce:

3 tbsp. raw honey
1 tbsp. plus 2 tsp hot sauce

Directions:

For the Chicken Sliders:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°. Line a baking sheet with foil, set aside.
  2. Trim boneless chicken and pound out to about 1-inch thickness and then cut into 2-oz. patties. Repeat until you have 10 2-oz. patties; season with salt and pepper and set aside.
  3. Set up three shallow bowls to coat the chicken. First bowl cornstarch. Second bowl 1 egg, egg white and maple syrup, whisk together. Third bowl panko, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, chili powder, cayenne, and garlic powder, whisk together to combine.
  4. Take chicken patties and start by tossing in cornstarch, then egg mixture and lastly the breadcrumb mixture, pressing into each side to fully coat. Lay on baking sheet. Repeat until you have coated all chicken patties. Spray the tops of the coated chicken with cooking spray and place into the oven for 12-15 minutes or until chicken is fully cooked.
  5. To build the sliders, add cooked chicken patties to your choice of slider bun or got bun-less. Top with 1 teaspoon of sauce and serve.

For the Hot Honey Sauce:

  1. Combine all sauce ingredients in a small bowl, whisk together until fully combined.
  2. Top each slider with 1 tsp of sauce and serve.
